Mounties win four of seven events in day 2 of SCC Championships

(East Los Angeles, California)  The Mt. SAC men's swimming team stretched it's lead over Cerritos College to 119 points after two days of competition at the South Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.  

The Mounties won four of the seven events contested in today's session.  Freshman Phillip Wright started the day with a win in the 400 IM (4:09.22) with Sophomore Emmett Poon finishing right behind him in 4:14.38.  That was followed by Sophomore Eric Aguirre winning the 100 Butterfly (51.88) and Sophomore Jacob Altree winning the 100 Breaststroke (59.07).  

The Mounties capped the night off with a come from behind win in the 800 Free Relay.  The team of Emmett Poon, Eric Aguirre, Johnny Perez and Phillip Wright (pictured above) swam an impressive 7:12.23 to win the event. Competition resumes on Saturday at 10:00 for the prelims session and 4:00 pm for the finals session.  Please click here for all of the meet results.
