Second-half goals lift Mounties to home win over Oxnard

(Walnut, CA) A pair of second-half scores turned a 1-1 halftime deadlock into a 3-1 Mt. SAC (4-1) victory over visiting Oxnard (3-2-1) on Tuesday.

The Condors scored first during the ninth minute to take a 1-0 lead, only to see the Mounties' Travis Piceno return the favor in the 41st minute on an assist from Andrew Vazquez to knot the score.

Goals by Paul Iniguez (Damian Esparza assist) in the 48th minute and Alex Mendez (Eddie Cabrera assist) in the 73rd minute gave Mt. SAC the win.

Jacob Cardenas had a pair of saves in goal for the Mounties, playing all 90 minutes.

Mt. SAC will go for its third consecutive win when it hosts College of the Desert (4-2-2) on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m.
