Mt. SAC Men’s Soccer Defeat East Los Angeles College 3-0

(Walnut, CA) Mt. SAC Men's Soccer team are on a roll with a 3-0 win over East Los Angeles College in a South Coast Conference North game on Friday afternoon. The Mounties recorded their fourth consecutive shutout and seventh in the last nine games.

Freshman forward Jose Santoyo scored his second natural hat trick in the past three games.

With his sixth, seventh and eighth goals of the season Santoyo helped the Mounties to their 14th win of the season against two losses and two ties. Mt. SAC also improved to 4-0-1 in the SCC North with three games remaining plus a SCC crossover game with L.A. Harbor on Tuesday.

Santoyo gave the Mounties a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute, which was assisted by sophomore forward Sam Ponting, his first of two in the game.

Santoyo's second and third goals came 12 minutes apart in the second half. The first was in the 53rd minute, assisted by Ponting and the third goal of the game was in the 65th minute assisted by freshman defender Alfonso Lopez.

Sophomore goal keeper Edwyn Gutierrez recorded his eighth solo shutout and tenth combined. He had five saves in the game.
