La Quinta, Calif. – The 2026 Mt. SAC Men's Golf season came to a close at the 3C2A State Championship Tournament held at SilverRock Golf Course, where sophomore Hayden Beltran represented the Mounties against the top golfers in California community college golf.

Beltran earned his spot at the state tournament after a strong performance at the Southern California Regional Championships on May 4 at Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura. After opening regionals with an 81, Beltran bounced back in a big way during round two, firing an impressive 71 to finish with a two-round total of 152 and secure his place among the state's elite competitors.

Teammate Jonathan Melton also competed at regionals, posting rounds of 81 and 84 for a combined 165, bringing his 2026 season to a close.

At the State Championship on May 10-11, Beltran battled through a challenging SilverRock Golf Course setup against one of the strongest fields in the state. Competing on the par-72 course, he recorded rounds of 83 and 82 for a two-day total of 165.

The tournament featured standout performances from some of California's top programs and players. College of the Canyons' Anthony Nilson captured the individual state title after shooting back-to-back rounds of 69 to finish at 138 overall.

Close behind was College of the Desert's Sinjin Armstrong, who carded two rounds of 70 for a 140 total and a second-place finish, earning All-State honors. His runner-up finish highlighted the level of competition Beltran faced throughout the championship tournament and conference competition.

College of the Desert, the top program in the Orange Empire Conference this season, continued their dominant year with a second-place finish in the team competition with a two-day total of 584.

While the Mounties faced challenges throughout the 2026 campaign, the season still featured memorable moments and strong individual performances, including Beltran's regional breakthrough and state championship appearance.
