(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Golf Team has qualified for the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships, with a third-place finish in the Orange Empire Conference this season.

The So Cal Regionals will take place Monday (5/6) at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills.

The season was topped off with a nearly flawless day in the OEC Championships Monday (4/29) as the team finished with 9-1 record at the 36-hole Par 71 Royal Vista Golf Course in Walnut.

The Mounties won the morning round with a perfect 5-0 record and finished second in the afternoon round at 4-1. Cypress, who captured the OEC title, finished with an overall record of 8-2 on the day while Orange Coast was third at 7-3.

"I am very proud of the effort we displayed," Mt. SAC coach Greg Osbourne said.  "We accomplished a pre-season goal by qualifying for the Southern California Regionals. We will be prepared and ready to qualify for the State Championship."

Mt. SAC finished fifth in 2017 in OEC competition and tied for third last year. They lost a third-place tie breaker to Riverside City College and did not qualify for the So Cal's.

It's been 10 years since the Mt. SAC Men's team has advanced to the So Cal's. The program was on hiatus from 2011 until 2016.

In 2010 the Mounties finished 10th in the So Cal's, but their best finish was a third in 2005, culminating with a state championship.

In the OEC Championships, Mt. SAC's Han Seop Lee tied with two other golfers with the lowest score on the day with a 5-under par 66 in the morning 18-hole round. Lee carded a 72 in the afternoon for a two-round score of 138, which was good for second out of 35 golfers.

Blake Copeland-143, Chu-Wen (Felix) Tsui-144 and Joshua Song-144 also had a fine day, along with Julio Ibarra-149. Rounding out the six Mountie golfers was Cameron Smith with a 151

The top four teams in the So Cal's will qualify for the 8-team CCCAA State Championships (5/13) on the 6,793-yard course at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa.
