Mt. SAC Men’s Basketball handles Compton, 91-79, in non-conference game

(Walnut, CA) With their third win in the last four games, the Mt. SAC Men's Basketball team defeated visiting Compton, 91-79, in a non-conference game on Wednesday (December 21).

A second consecutive big game by sophomore guard Jay Milner (9-16 FGM-A, 2-3 3PM-A, 2-2 FTM-A, 6 RB, 2 Stls.), scoring a team-high 22 points. Three other Mounties were in double figures – Nick Hopkins (17 Pts., 7-14 FGM-A, 3-4 FTM-A, 9 RB, 1 A, 1 Stl.), LJ McClain (16 Pts., 8-10 FGM-A, 3 RB, 1 A, 2 Stls.) and Arturo Angeles (10 Pts., 4-5 FGM-A, 1-2 3 PM-A, 1-2 FTM-A).

Micah Myricks added seven points, along with five points from Dante Victor, Mikah Gardner, and Matthew Brown.

The Mounties, who improved to 7-6 overall, took a 40-26 first-half lead into halftime. Leading the charge for the Mounties with 10 points in the half was McClain on a perfect 5-5 field goals.

Compton bested Mt. SAC in the second half, 53-51, but Milner paced the Mounties with 13 of his 22 points for the win.

Mt. SAC travels to College of the Canyons for the Cougar Holiday Classic with an opening game against the host COC. The two-day tourney also features Orange Coast College and L.A. Trade Tech.
