East Los Angeles hands Men's Basketball an SCC North setback

(Monterey Park, CA) Host East Los Angeles College (18-4, 3-0) defeated Mt. San Antonio College (13-5, 2-1) by the score of 77-57 in a South Coast Conference North Division game on Wednesday. The Huskies, ranked No. 8 in the Jan. 31 California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association State Poll, led by as many as 27 points late in the game.

Khalid Wilkins led the Mounties in scoring with 17 points, while teammate Dyren Brown added 10. Brown also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

East Los Angeles' JT Langston led all players with 14 points as teammate Cory Cofield tallied a game-high 10 boards.

The Huskies outplayed Mt. SAC in several key team categories, including bench points (47-14), points in the paint (30-18), and rebounds (42-32).

The Mounties, ranked No. 22 in the current CCCMBCA poll, return to action at Pasadena City College (1-17, 0-3) in an SCC North game on Friday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m.
