(Walnut, CA) From the opening tip, Mt. SAC (10-12, 2-3) dominated visiting Rio Hondo (3-20, 0-5), rolling to an 86-61 South Coast Conference North Division victory on Wednesday night behind Cyree Dunnell's 34 points.
Dunnell connected on 14 of 20 from the field, including four of seven from behind the arc, and had six rebounds and four steals.
Gabe Ontiveros added 16 points for the Mounties and had eight assists. Akinola Branco and Israel Mansker pitched in with 11 points each in the win, while Mansker tallied 16 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Jonathan Martinez led Rio Hondo with 19 points
The Mounties opened the game on an 11-0 run and led by as many as 32 in the second half.
As a team, Mt. SAC shot 55 percent from the field which included 44 percent from 3-point range. The Mounties dominated inside, scoring 40 points in the paint to the Roadrunners' 18, and on the boards, 43-20.
Mt. SAC will host Los Angeles Trade Tech (17-5, 3-2) on Friday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m. in an SCC North Division rematch. The Beavers defeated the Mounties, 65-60, on Jan. 23.
