(Toronto, Canada) Former Mountie Ryan Phillips was named to the Canadian Football League (CFL) All-Decade First Team (2010-2019). Phillips, who played for the Mounties during the 2001 and 2002 seasons, played 13 seasons in the CFL (2005-2017) for the BC Lions and Montreal Allouettes. During his career he captured two Grey Cup Championships (CFL Championships in 2006 and 2011) and was a 4-time CFL All-Star (2007, 2010, 2012, 2013).
Phillips currently holds five BC Lions records including for most career interception return yards (816), most interception return yards in a season (299), most interceptions in a season (12, led CFL in 2007), most career defensive touchdowns (6) and most career interception return touchdowns (5).
Phillips currently serves as a defensive backs coach for the BC Lions, as well as a high school teacher in Seattle during the off season.
Along with Phillips, the Mounties have had a number of former student-athletes go on to the professional ranks in the Canadian Football League including legendary quarterback Anthony Calvillo. Calvillo, a CFL and Mt. SAC Athletics Hall of Famer, is professional football's all-time passing yards leader with 79,816 yards.
