Mt. SAC Football Blanked by Riverside, 48-0, in CCCAA So Cal Playoffs

(Riverside, CA) After a five-year absence from the California Community College Athletic Association playoffs, Mt. SAC returned to the Southern California Regionals, but were blanked, 48-0, by host Riverside City College Saturday night (Nov. 23).

The Mounties, who won the National Conference Central Division title last week to qualify for the eight-team state playoffs, conclude their season with a 7-4 record.

RCC, ranked second in the state, moves on to the Southern California Football Association Championship next Saturday against College of the Canyons.

Running back Rachaad White led the Mounties with 41 yards on 15 carries. He also caught two passes for 32 yards. The sophomore came into the game averaging 122 yards per game, which was tops in the state.

RCC held the Mounties to 114 yards on the ground in the game.

Splitting time at quarterback was freshman Zach Rangel (6 for 16, 70 yards, 5 Int.) and sophomore Dylan Flenniken (5-23, 56 yds., 34 yards rushing on 3 carries).

The two QB's connected with seven receivers in the game. Along with White, Malaki Thompson (1 catch, 21 yds.) Jonathan Schofield (2-18 yds.), Brandon Quinones (2-17 yds.), Jamil Weaver (1-16 yds.), Sean Bowden (2-14 yds.) and Christian Edgerson (1-8 yds.) contributed for the Mounties.

Defensively, sophomore defensive back Jontavis Walker (8 solo tackles, 2 assists) and sophomore linebacker Connor Helsius (8 solo, 1 assist) led the Mounties. Freshman defensive lineman Tyrone Taleni led Mt. SAC with a sack (-4 yds.) and one tackle for loss (-4 yds.).
