Mt. SAC Football vs Chaffey

(Rancho Cucamonga, CA) On Saturday night (09/15), the Chaffey College Football Team shut out the Mounties, 13-0.  This marked the first time during the Bob Jastrab Coaching Era (14 years, 160 games) that an opponent has kept the traditional powerhouse Mounties, scoreless.

Even though the Mounties statistically led the game in nearly every offensive category, the Panthers crushed the Mountie running game, holding them to a mere 28 yards on 18 carries.

Keshon Flemings began the game at quarterback for the Mounties, completing 15 of 28 passes for 102 yards.

Receiver Chris Jackson led Mt. SAC with 90 yards on 12 catches, followed by Damian Alloway (8 catches for 70 yds.) and Zion Echols (6 for 46 yds.).

Chaffey took a 7-0 lead on its second possession of the game after a 12-play, 86-yard drive (12:29 1st qtr.).

Midway through the second quarter, the Mounties had a chance to get on the scoreboard, but kicker Gabriel Dunkle missed on a 27-yard field goal attempt.

Late in the first half (4:13, 2nd qtr.), Mt. SAC Defensive Back DeAndre Robinson, blocked a Chaffey punt attempt at their own 11-yard line.

After three rushes by Flemings to the Panthers' 2 yard line, a second field goal (20 yards) was missed by Dunkle.

At the beginning of the 3rd quarter, each team punted on their opening series, but the Panthers earned their second score of the game, a 73-yard touchdown pass which gave them a 13-0 lead, with 5:17 left in the quarter.

Quarterback Dylan Flenniken started the third quarter for the Mounties, completing 5 of 10 passes for 36 yards.

Usual Mt. SAC starting quarterback Steven Nava entered the game late in the third quarter and finished the game, completing 15 of 29 passes for 138 yards, with one interception.

In the game there were a total of 16 combined punts for 625 yards between both teams.
