Walnut, Calif. – It was an all-out rout at Mazmanian Field when the Mt. SAC Baseball Team shutout East Los Angeles College 11-0 for game two of the series on Thursday, March 26. Maybe it was the buzz of MLB Opening Day, or maybe the Mounties just came ready—but either way, they showed up and showed out. With the win, Mt. SAC improves to 13-15 overall and 10-4 in SCC play, while ELAC drops to 8-19 overall and 4-7 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Mounties got off to a steady start, breaking through in the bottom of the second when Terrell Jackson Jr. reached on an ELAC error and Tyler Primanto came around to score and put Mt. SAC on the board.

Jackson Giacone added to the momentum in the fourth, launching a solo home run to double the lead at 2-0.

But it was a big seventh inning that really sealed the deal for the Mounties. A mix of timely hitting and Husky mistakes led to a massive rally for Mt. SAC.

Primanto scored on a Brock Foulds single to make it 3-0, but Mt. SAC wasn't done. With the bases loaded, Isaac Fanoga was hit by a pitch to bring in another run. Then the floodgates opened—Hudson Karczynski, Giacone, and Luca Lombardi drew back-to-back-to-back walks, each forcing in a run and pushing the score to 7-0.

Primanto delivered again with a clutch double, driving in Lombardi, Giacone, and Karczynski as the Mounties hit double digits. Jackson Jr. capped off the inning with an RBI single, bringing Primanto home for the 11-0 lead.

On the mound, Hudson Castillo was locked in. The left-hander tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits while walking none and striking out three to earn his fourth win of the season. Seth Sumner and Cash Carroll followed in relief, each delivering a clean, three-up, three-down inning to seal the shutout.

ELAC struggled to find any rhythm on the mound, cycling through five pitchers who combined to allow 10 hits and five walks.

NEXT UP:
