Walnut, Calif. – In the double-elimination round of the 3C2A SoCal Super Regionals, No. 1 seed Mt. SAC Baseball rolled past No. 12 Cuesta College 14-6 on Thursday, May 8, before defeating No. 8 Chaffey College 13-6 on Friday, May 9.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Mt. SAC found its groove early and exploded for seven runs in the third inning against Chaffey. Landon White sparked the rally with a two-RBI single, plating Bryan Bradshaw and Noah Rodriguez. Tyler Stull, Miguel Perez, and Jackson Giacone followed with RBI singles to put the Mounties up 7-0.

The Mounties added two more in the fifth on an RBI groundout by Cole Nachreiner and a well-placed bunt from Giacone. In the sixth, Diego Ortiz was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in another run, and Nachreiner doubled in two more. Giacone capped off Mt. SAC's scoring with an RBI groundout, making it 13-0.

Chaffey finally responded in the eighth when Ryder Young launched a solo home run. The Panthers made a late push in the ninth, capitalizing on a Mountie pitching change. A single by Austin Easter drove in a run before Jaden St. Cyr crushed a grand slam, cutting the deficit to 13-6. But reliever Jeremiah Sibrian shut the door, preserving the win for Mt. SAC.

Starter Izeah Muniz was brilliant once again, tossing six scoreless innings and allowing just three hits while striking out four to improve to 12-1 on the season. Chaffey's Jackson Price took the loss after giving up five earned runs over 2.2 innings.
