Mt. SAC Baseball shuts out Cerritos in SCC contest to earn second straight win

(Norwalk, CA) In a South Coast Conference rainout-makeup game, Mt. San Antonio College (6-11, 1-4) defeated host Cerritos College (5-11, 1-4) by the score of 5-0 on Wednesday, March 8. The teams will meet again in Walnut on Wednesday, March 15, to make up the other rained-out game from Feb. 25 to complete their three-game series.

On Wednesday, Gibby Morales (1-3, R, RBI), Alex Reynozo (1-3, 2 RBI), Elijah Pelayo (1-3, RBI), and Joel Quemada (1-3, RBI) sparked the Mountie offense. Quemada and CJ Ontiveros also stole bases for Mt. SAC.

Starter Michael Flores threw eight strong innings for the Mounties to improve to 2-2 on the season. He allowed only two hits while striking out 13 batters.

Mt. SAC will resume its three-game non-conference series with Santa Barbara City College (12-5) at home on Thursday, March 9, at 5 p.m. The Mounties defeated the Vaqueros, 6-0, in the first game of the series on Tuesday, March 7. Game 3 will take place in Walnut on Saturday, March 11, at 6 p.m.
