(Walnut, CA) In both teams' opening game of the 2023 season, host Mt. San Antonio College (1-0) handed Barstow College (0-1) a resounding 11-1 defeat on Friday, Jan. 27. Following a scoreless first inning, the Mounties tallied three runs in the second and five in the third and never looked back.
Top offensive performances for Mt. SAC included Andres Mitat (2-2, 2 R, RBI), Damien Delgadillo (2-4, R, RBI, 2B), and Travis Hobbensiefken (2-5, R, 3 RBI). Though he didn't have a hit, Blake Hagerty had 3 RBIs and scored a run. Alex Rodriguez (not that one) stole a base for the Mounties and had an RBI.
Starter Michael Flores (1-0) picked up the win for Mt. SAC, throwing four innings, allowing one run, and striking out four.
The Mounties host Victor Valley College (0-0) on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 12 p.m.
