Baseball dominates Compton in SCC matchup to take over first place in conference standings

(Walnut, CA) Host Mt. San Antonio College (28-7, 15-4) resumed its South Coast Conference schedule with a resounding 21-2 victory against Compton College (8-28, 4-15) on Tuesday, April 19. The win puts the Mounties in sole possession of first place in the SCC standings, a full game ahead of El Camino College (26-9, 14-5) and Pasadena City College (26-9, 14-5).

Starter Michael Flores improved to 10-1 on the season, throwing seven innings, allowing one run (earned), and striking out 11.

Brent Cota (3-4, 2 R, 2 RBI), Cristian Enriquez (3-4, R, 4 RBI, 3B), Blake Borgogno (3-6, 3 R, 3 RBI, 3 2B), Alex Reynozo (2-3, R, 2 RBI), and Mayson Baez (2-2, 2 R, RBI, 2B) were among the top hitters for Mt. SAC.

The Mounties and Tartars will play again in Game 2 of the series on Thursday, April 21, in Compton at 2:30 p.m. and in Game 3 on Saturday, April 23, in Walnut at 12 p.m.
