Baseball gets back on winning track with come-from-behind SCC victory over East L.A.

(Monterey Park, CA) Mt. San Antonio College (22-7, 12-4) came from behind to capture a 3-2 victory over host East Los Angeles College (15-15, 11-8) on Tuesday, April 5, in the opening game of a three-game South Coast Conference series. The win keeps the Mounties tied with Pasadena City College (23-7, 12-4) atop the SCC standings.

Trailing 2-0 through five, Mt. SAC's Nin Burns II (2-4, R) led off the top of the sixth with a single, then Blake Borgogno (1-5, R, RBI) doubled, scoring Burns II. Borgogno later scored from third on a single by CJ Ontiveros (1-5, RBI) to tie the score, 2-2. Art Ruiz (2-4, R), who singled earlier in the inning, scored what proved to be the decisive run on a single by Elijah Pelayo (1-5, RBI).

Michael Flores improved to 9-1 on the season, throwing a complete game, allowing two runs (both earned), while striking out three.

The Mounties and Huskies will face off in Game 2 of the series in Walnut on Thursday, April 7, at 2:30 p.m. and in Game 3 in Monterey Park on Saturday, April 9, at 12 p.m.
