Mt. SAC Baseball Holds On To Defeat Late Surging Pasadena City

(Walnut, CA) Host Mt. SAC (11-5, 2-3) jumped out to an early five-run lead in the first inning and then held on, to defeat Pasadena City College, 7-6, despite a late-inning surge by the Lancers.

In the Thursday (Feb. 27) South Coast Conference contest, starter Michael Ortega (4-1) got the win for the Mounties, pitching six strong innings, allowing one earned run and striking out four. Jacob Kampen got his first save of the season, coming on to strike out three Lancers in one inning of relief.

Cole Jordan (2-4, RBI, 2 R, 2B, 2 SB), Connor Bartholomew (1-3, RBI, R), Ryan Williams (1-3, 2 R, SB), Tyus Santa Anna (1-4, RBI, R), and Omar Veloz (1-4, RBI, SB) were the top offensive performers for Mt. SAC. Dylan Zavala and Art Ruiz also stole bases for the Mounties.

Mt. SAC and Pasadena (8-9, 2-3) will face off again on Saturday, February 29th, at Pasadena, to close out their three-game series.
