Mt. SAC Baseball Opens New Season With Convincing Win Over Victor Valley

(Walnut, CA) In the opening game of the 2020 season, Mt. SAC (1-0) exploded for nine runs by the end of the third inning, then coasted to a 9-1 win over visiting Victor Valley College (0-1) on Friday, Jan. 24.

Albert Luevano (3-4, R, 2B, 3B), Ryan Williams (3-5, RBI, 2 R, 2B), Connor Bartholomew (2-4, 3 RBI, R, 2B), and Omar Veloz (1-1, 2 RBI, R, 2B) were the top hitters for the Mounties.

On the base paths, Williams, Veloz (2), Cole Jordan, Art Ruiz (2), and Caleb Ellis accounted for seven stolen bases in the winning effort.

Starter Tyler Frazier (1-0, 4 IP, 0 ER, 2 K) got the win for Mt. SAC in a game that saw five Mountie pitchers take the mound.

Mt. SAC will host Imperial Valley College (0-0) on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m.
