Mounties pop cork on new season with decisive win over Victor Valley

(Walnut, CA) Mt. SAC broke a 1-1 tie in the second inning with two runs and scored in every inning after that, coasting to a 12-1 season-opening non-conference win over visiting Victor Valley (0-1) on Friday.

Jacob Kampen (1-0) got the win for the Mounties (1-0), throwing five innings and giving up one unearned run on three hits. Wyatt Regis (1 IP, 0 R), Noah Woodall (2 IP, 0 R, 1 K), and Ryan Mauch (1 IP, 0 R, 1 K) came on in relief to help secure the win.

Mt. SAC's Tyus Santa Anna went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, while teammates Dylan Zavala and Albert Luevano each went 2-for-5. Zavala also scored two runs and had one RBI.

The Mounties host Glendale in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, January 26, at 12 noon.
