Mounties Win Third Straight, defeat Mt. San Jacinto, 7-6

(Walnut) By John M. Sherrard – The Mt. SAC baseball team won its third consecutive game, 7-6, over Mt. San Jacinto Thursday night at Mazmanian Field in a non-conference game.

After building an early 6-0 lead in the second inning, the visiting Mt. San Jacinto Eagles came all the way back to tie the game in the sixth inning, 6-6.

However However, the Mounties answered in the seventh, scoring the go-ahead run to take a 7-6 lead.

 Sophomore catcher Kory Brown (Charter Oak HS) hit a one-out triple to right field and came in on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by sophomore designated hitter Spencer Sundahl (East Lake HS, Chula Vista) for the lead.

Pitcher Andrew Matus (Don Lugo HS), making his first appearance of the season (2 innings, run, 3 hits, 2 strikeouts), picked up his first win and freshman pitcher Lorenzo Carrillo (Charter Oak HS) went the final two innings for the save.

Freshman right fielder Antonio Muniz (South Hills HS) collected two hits, including a double and a run scored.

Sundahl and Nate Alam (El Dorado HS) each had two RBIs.

The Mounties sent ten men to the plate in the six-run second, highlighted by a two-run single by Alam.
