71st Running of the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational

(Walnut, CA) Over 14,000 runners, from 500 teams, are set to compete in 91 races at the 2018 Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational presented by Brooks.  The world’s largest cross country competition will begin on Friday, October 12th with the community college, elementary and middle school divisions and finish with the high school division on Friday and Saturday, October 19th and 20th.  

The premier races of the high school division, the individual and team sweepstakes races, will be held on Saturday (10/20) between 8:56 am and 10:00 am. Many of the top runners and teams in the state are scheduled to compete in those races including Great Oak High School, which has captured more Mt. SAC Sweepstakes Titles (combined boys and girls) than any other program in history.

The two community college invitational races will feature over 20 community college from throughout California and Arizona.  Mt. SAC will look to keep the Sweepstakes Title (combined men’s and women’s team award) in Walnut.  The Mountie Men and Mountie Women are the defending California Community College State Champions and are currently hold the #1 and #2 state rankings.  The men will be challenged by #2 ranked El Camino, while the women will face stiff competition from a strong contingent of Arizona colleges.
