The Cerritos College women's tennis team opened South Coast Conference play on Thursday by dropping a 9-0 decision to Mt. San Antonio College. The Falcons (5-4, 0-1) will now play their next three conference matches on the road and will face Long Beach City College at 2:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

In the loss to the Mounties, sophomore Cyd Dionson (Western HS) extended her match in the #4 singles position to a third set, but was defeated, 6-4, 1-6, 3-10 by Alyssa Penner. At the top of the singles ladder, freshman Samantha Judan (Bishop Montgomery HS) dropped a 4-6, 2-6 decision, while the team combined to win just six games in the other four matches.

In doubles play, Cerritos continued their struggles against Mt. SAC and combined to win just seven games, with the duos of Dionson and freshman Natali Perez (Lakewood HS), along with sophomore Patricia Espinosa (El Rancho HS/Hope International University) and freshman Jessica Alcayde (Cabrillo HS) each winning three of them.
