WALNUT – (By John M. Sherrard) - Mt. SAC freshman pitcher Jessica Olvera (John F. Kennedy HS) went the distance picking up her fifth win and fourth complete game as the Mounties won their 10th consecutive game of the season and 14th out of the last 15 games in a 7-3 South Coast Conference victory over host Pasadena City College Tuesday afternoon at Robinson Park.
Mt. SAC, ranked seventh in the state California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (CCCFCA) poll and fourth in the Southern California region, remained atop the conference with a 10-1 record and 21-2 overall.
Sophomores Allegra Cisneros (South Hills HS) and Priscilla Leon (Upland HS) had two RBIs each, including a double by Cisneros. Sophomore shortstop Anise Avalos (Claremont HS) also had a double and freshman centerfielder Bree Maikai (Oak Hill HS) stole two bases.
Olvera (3 strikeouts), with three unearned runs allowed in the game, remains at a state-leading 0.00 ERA in her 37 innings pitched.
The Mounties jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single to left by Leon, scoring sophomore first baseman Aimee Rodriguez (John Burroughs HS) and freshman right fielder Alyssa Rasso (Corona HS).
The Mounties scored another run in the fourth inning and added three more in the fifth for a 7-0 lead.
In the fifth inning after a sacrifice fly by Rodriguez, scoring Maikai, Cisneros doubled down the left field line, scoring freshman Victoria Ayala (La Serna HS) and freshman left fielder Reanna Hernandez (Montclair HS).
Pasadena came right back with three unearned runs in the bottom half of the fifth, to trail, 7-3, but wouldn't get any closer.
