CYPRESS, Calif. --- After sweeping Ventura College in three sets last Wednesday, the Chargers came into last nights contest with a lot of confidence.  Mt. San Antonio also came into last nights contest with a little confidence of their own, going 4-1 over its last 5 matches.

The first set belonged to Cypress on Wednesday night. Mya Shannon and Ani Green were both able to pick up four kills of their own while Allyson Dekruyf was in usual form, collecting 11 assists.  Cypress was able to squeak out the back and forth set, (25-20).

After a promising start, the Chargers dropped the second set to the Mounties, (19-25), as well as the third set, (21-25).

Down (2-1) with their backs against the wall, Shannon was able to strike back in the fourth set.  Shannon recorded six more kills for the Chargers and helped lead them to a (25-13) win in the equalizer.

Going in to the fifth and final set, Cypress contained all the momentum.  The Chargers were able to run away in the final set (15-5), and defeat the mounties (3-2).

Dymond Johnson and Holly Webster had stellar performances last night, both recording 22 digs each for Cypress. Kiki Atuatasi and Ivana Escobedo both had 11 kills each in the contest, while Dekruyf recorded a season high of 49 assists for the Chargers.

This makes Cypress (6-3) on the season and (3-1) on their home floor.  The Chargers prepare for a quick one when they begin league play and face Fullerton College at home on Friday night, starting at 7:00 pm.
