Pep Squad Lead and Head Dance Team Coach Talan (Armstrong) Fortin joined the Mt. SAC Athletics Family, as a staff member, in September of 2017.  No stranger to Mt. SAC, Fortin was a member of the award-winning Mt. SAC Dance Team in 2013 and 2014.

Prior to taking the reins of the program, Fortin served as an assistant dance team coach under her former coach, Stephanie Green.  Together they led the Mounties to back-to-back NDA Hip Hop National Championships (2018 and 2019).

Along with her head coaching duties, Fortin works in the Mt. SAC Athletics Special Events Office where she is an integral member of the world renown Mt. SAC Relays, Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational and other large special events.

Previously, Fortin worked at Northern Arizona University as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor and fitness/conditioning instructor for two years.

Fortin was raised in Moreno Valley and attended Rancho Verde High School.  After high school, she attended Mt. SAC where she was a member of the Dance Team.  During her time at Mt. SAC, the team captured two NDA Open Jazz National Championships (’13 & ’14) and an NDA Hip Hop National Championship (DII).

One interesting fact about Fortin, is that she completed a 6-month Performance Specialist internship with the renowned fitness/training company EXOS (TX) whose clients include notable NFL and MLB stars, as well as professional athletes from throughout the sports world.

She received her AA in Kinesiology from Mt. San Antonio College, her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science from Northern Arizona University and her Master of Science Degree in Sport Management from Cal Baptist University.

Fortin and her husband David currently reside in Corona, California with their young son Jett.
