Lani Ruh has over 22 years of experience coaching at the club, high school and college level.  She was hired in June of 2019 as a full-time professor of Kinesiology and assistant aquatics coach.  Prior to being hired full-time, Ruh worked in various capacities with the Mt. SAC Aquatics Program including with the swim lesson program, swim and water polo invitationals and as an adjunct professor/assistant aquatics coach. 

Prior to coaching at Mt. SAC, Ruh coached at her alma mater, Walnut High School, where she was the head coach of the boys and girls Water Polo and Swimming Teams.  During her tenure, she led the Mustangs to 30 league championships and two CIF Southern Section Championships.  She captured both the girls Water Polo and girls Swimming CIF Championships in 2010 and was named the CIF Coach of the Year in both sports.  Ruh has also accumulated five San Gabriel Valley Tribune Coach of the Year honors, twice in boy’s water polo (2007, 2009) and once in girls swimming (2020), girls water polo (2010) and boy’s swimming (2011).

Ruh attended Mt. SAC where she was part of the very first Mt. SAC Women’s Water Polo Team and also a member of the swimming team.  She earned All-American honors in both swimming and water polo. 

She is a graduate of the University of La Verne (Biology) and received her Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University.  She is currently working on her second Master’s Degree in Sport Psychology at Capella University.

Ruh resides in Walnut with her husband Marc and 2 children.  She is the daughter-in-law of legendary/Hall of Fame Mt. SAC Track and Field/Cross Country Coach, Don Ruh.
