Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Kim Jones joins the Mt. SAC Men's Basketball Staff as Strength and Conditioning Coach. Jones began her career in athletics in 2004 as the head varsity basketball coach at Notre Dame Academy where she began and implemented strength and conditioning programs for the varsity basketball and volleyball teams from 2006-2008.
Jones has coached within strength and conditioning programs at UCLA (2008), California State University, Northridge (2008-2010) and United States Tennis Association (2010-2011).
Prior to Mt. SAC Jones served as Strength and Conditioning Coach at El Camino College where she started the Warriors Strength and Conditioning Program (2012). At El Camino she meticulously developed and cultivated the program overseeing weight room, conditioning and rehab based warm ups for a majority of their athletic programs.
Jones helped form the Wellness Warriors at El Camino College. She has presented at Flex Week Professional Development Workshops and has lectured to staff and faculty on various health and movement based topics during Wellness Lunch and Learn Presentations. She also presented at the Annual Classified Conference (fall of 2019), speaking on nutrition as a lifestyle tool for achieving optimal health.
In 2019, Jones co-authored the book "Dear Her" with her Convos with coaches podcast host Leslie Trujillo. The book is a collection of letters by women, who have written to their former selves, to help young girls navigate through the struggles encountered in sports and in life.
Jones is also a certified USA Weightlifting Club Coach (USAW), Z Health Practitioner (R Phase, I Phase), Functional Medicine Health Health Coach and an IFBB Pro Women's Physique Competitor. She holds a certification in Exercise Nutrition from Precision Nutrition (PN1), a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana and a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount University (2007).
