(Walnut, CA) It is with deep regret that the Mt. SAC Athletics Department announces the passing of Mt. SAC Athletics Hall of Famer and alumnus, Pete Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds passed away quietly in his sleep on December 26, 2016, at the age of 90.  Mr. Reynolds and his wife of 64 years, Caroline, who passed away in February, were longtime supporters of the college and the Mt. SAC Foundation.  Their many philanthropic activities at Mt. SAC included public art, athletics, student scholarships and other Foundation initiatives and activities.

Through the years, thousands of Mt. SAC Students, student-athletes and community members have benefited from the generosity of Pete and the Reynolds Family.

Along with his long-time friend, Don Rogers, Mr. Reynolds founded the Mt. SAC Foundation Golf Classic.  The annual event, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, has raised over a million dollars for student scholarships and the athletics department.

Mr. Reynolds grew up in Covina and attended Covina High School before joining the Navy.  After serving, he attended Mt. SAC where he was the captain of the Tennis Team and a member of the very first graduating class in 1948.  In 1992, he was inducted into the Mt. SAC Athletics Hall of Fame as a charter inductee.

After Mt. SAC, he attended and graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1950.  Mr. Reynolds returned to Covina to join his father in running Reynolds Buick/GMC where he ran the thriving local business for nearly five decades of its 101 year existence.

Mr. Reynolds is survived by his four children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, January 6th at 11:00 am, at the United Methodist Church of Glendora (201 East Bennett Avenue / Glendora, CA 91741).
