(Walnut, CA)  What started out as a motivational speech for the Mt. SAC Football and Track & Field Teams has been turned into an inspirational video by the Mt. SAC Broadcasting Department.  The video which was shot last spring, features Mt. SAC Head Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field Coach, Ron Kamaka, as he shares his thoughts about his life, how he has changed and how he has fulfilled his dreams, despite suffering an accident which paralyzed him 25 years ago.

On this special day, Kamaka debuted his new wheelchair which allowed him to stand up and to see his students/staff, eye-to-eye for the first time.

Kamaka arrived at Mt. SAC, 11 years ago, after serving as the associate head coach and assistant coach at Cal State Fullerton for 12 years.  In 2012, he was named the Head Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field Coach.  Since that time, he has led the Mounties to 2 California Community College Athletic Association Men’s Track & Field State Championships, continuing the winning tradition of Mountie Track & Field.  Kamaka has also captured 2 South Coast Conference, California Community College Cross Country and Track Coaches Association and South Coast Conference All-Sports Men’s Coach of the Year honors.
