(Walnut, CA) After a tough preseason the Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball team is off to a hot start in the South Coast Conference North with a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Chaffey College Friday night at the Mountie Gymnasium.

The Mounties upped their overall record to 8-10 and are now 2-0 in conference with the 25-15, 25-12, 25-13 result.

Middle blocker Jordon Wilson led the Mounties with nine kills. The sophomore also had two service aces and two digs.

Freshmen outside hitters Sierra Lujan (1 service ace, 2 digs) and Alysha Tullar (1 service ace and a dig) contributed with six and five kills respectively.

Freshman setter Brianda Valdez had 17 assists, five digs and two kills, while freshman defensive specialist Malia Carr had eight digs and four service aces.

Freshman outside hitter Saipeti Fuiava contributed with eight assists, two digs and a service ace. Freshmen Lindsey Lane and Angelique Lee had four kills apiece.

As a team the Mounties had 31 kills, 29 assists and 22 digs. In the three-set sweep the Mounties had 11, 7 and 13 kills respectively in the three sets.

The Mounties will try to win their 13th consecutive conference match, which dates back to 2015, with a match at home against Pasadena City College this Wednesday October 11 at 6:00 pm.
