Mounties Win 10th Match of the Season, Sweep ELAC 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 21-15)

(MONTEREY PARK) After a tough loss last week to the number one team in the state, the Mountie Women's Volleyball team has rebounded and have now won their third match in a row, including two consecutive in the South Coast Conference.

The visiting Mounties swept East Los Angeles College Friday, winning 25-21, 25-16, 25-15 to up their overall record to 10-1 and 2-0.

Sophomore outside hitter Makenzie Thieme had her best match of the season with 16 kills to lead both teams.

Sophomore outside hitters Haley English and Erica Gumz had nine and eight kills respectively for the Mounties.

Sophomore libero Alexandria Peterson led the Mounties with 14 digs, while sophomore setter Carolina Urquieta had a match-high 33 assists.

44 of the 75 Mt. SAC points were on kills, as they had 11, 17 and 16 respectively in the three games.

The Mounties moved up in the CCCAA state rankings to no. 18 with the past three victories.

Mt. SAC will continue South Coast Conference action with two matches this week. They will travel to Rio Hondo College on Wednesday and host Pasadena City College on Friday with both matches starting at 6:00 p.m.
