Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team (9-1) defeats Southwestern College

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team (9-1) defeated the Southwestern College Jaguars, 3-1 (25-16, 25-22, 22-25, 27-25), in a non-conference match. 

The Mounties were led by Haley English, one of the most consistent Mounties this season with 14 kills, off of 28 attempts and only 1 error. She also had 6 digs, 4 assists, 2 aces and a solo block.

Carolina Urquieta directed the offense for the majority of the night, providing 21 assists. Mackenzie Thieme, a recipient of many of Urquieta assists, contributed by putting away 14 kills, off of 31 attempts with 4 errors.

Defensive specialist, Ali Peterson led the defense with 8 digs, while starting middle blockers, Jordon Wilson and Kaitlyn Partridge (6) had 3 crucial solo blocks each. Brianna Elias was a spark off the bench with 5 digs and 2 aces.

In the fourth set, the Mounties fought hard as they came from behind to tie it at 25. An amazing dig by Partridge, set up a monstrous solo block by Wilson to finish the set and clinch the match.

"I'm proud of the way the team fought at the end of game 4 to seal the win", replied Head Coach, Ali Carey.  "Haley, MacKenzie and Erica did a great job of consistently placing the ball and Carolina made excellent decisions running the offense."

Mt. SAC will travel to East Los Angeles College to take on the Huskies this Friday (September 30th), at 3:30 pm.
