Mt. SAC Women’s Track & Field Travels North to Annual Stanford Invite

(Palo Alto, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Track & Field Team were represented by a few athletes at the Annual Stanford Invitational Friday and Saturday, March 30, 31.

Leading the way for the Mounties against major Colleges and Universities was sophomore Brittany Mitchell, competing in both the 100 and 400 Meter Hurdles.

Mitchell, going up against host Stanford, Cal, Notre Dame, Washington and 19 other four-year institutions, placed 24th and 20th  in the  100M (14.73) and 400M (1:03.18) Hurdles events respectively.

Four other Mt. SAC women, which were the only community college athletes at the Invite, competed in the sprint events and two field events.

Alyssa Curry ran a 12.73 in the 100M and Lenaya Griffin finished 23rd with a 57.23 in the 200M.

In the two field events Nadya Wisham leaped 10.94M on her first attempt for a seventh place in the Triple Jump, while Caira Patterson finished 22nd for a throw of 44.06M in the Hammer Throw.

The Mounties will compete on Tuesday and Wednesday April 3 and 4 in the So Cal Multi Event Championships at Cerritos College.
