Women's Tennis Wins So Cal Regional, Earns Trip to State Championship!

(Walnut, CA) The Mounties Women's Tennis Team made history on Saturday.  They earned a trip to the state championship as a team for the first time in the programs long career.  Coach Sophie Salvador and her #1 Seeded Mounties defeated Glendale College, the #2 Seed in Southern California, by a score of 5-2.

The team started off strong with 3 doubles wins by Pyper Brown/Judy Ung, Connie Aranguiz/Kristen Canones and Tran Bui/Ysabella Matute. That left just two singles matches to clinch the victory.

Brown and Ung defeated Mooradian and Sanchez respectively, leading to the victory for the Mounties. Glendale came away with two victories in the #5 and #6 singles matches but it was not enough as Mt. SAC earned its first trip to the championship.

The Mounties now travel to Ventura for the State Championship on Wednesday, April 22nd at Noon where they will face Modesto, a 5-2 winner over Fresno in the North.
