Tse, Djapri Lead Mounties to Fourth SCC Championship in Last Five Years

Women's Swimming & Diving SCC Champions

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Swimming & Diving Team, took the lead in day one of the South Coast Conference Championships and never let up, capturing their fourth title in the last five years.

The championships, which were held at Mt. SAC's Marie T. Mills Aquatics Center, April 19-21, saw 94 women swimmers from nine community colleges compete for the season-ending conference title.

Mt. SAC, provided the largest contingent and finished first with 717 points, El Camino (2nd), 537 pts and Pasadena City College (3rd), 439.

Depth is a big part for Mt. SAC's success as they had 16 swimmers compete in three events each.

Mt. SAC Swimmers captured seven of the 12 individual championships and four of the five relays.

Leading the pack was freshman Ashley Tse with three championships in the 100 Breaststroke (1:03.97), 200 Breast (2:16.70) and the 200 Individual Medley (2:03.97).

Jerica Djapri took home two championships with wins in the 100 Butterfly (1:00.09) and 200 Backstroke (2:16.08) and a second place finish in the 100 Back (1:02.76).

Erin DeAnda came away with a championship in the 100 Back (1:00.52) and runner-up finish in the 50 (24.92) and the 100 Freestyle (53.94).

Other top Mt. SAC individual performances were Nikita Rubio, 200 Fly, 1st (2:22.37), 100 Fly, 2nd (1:02.66) and 200 IM, 4th (2:21.65); Alexis Aguirre, 500 Free, 2nd (5:30.58), 1650 Free, 2nd (19:02.37), 200 Free, 3rd (2:01.90).
