Women's Soccer Ends Regular Season with a 1-1 Tie Against East Los Angeles College

(Walnut, CA) After two close losses against Chaffey and Rio Hondo College, the Mt. SAC Women's Soccer team finished the regular season with a 1-1 tie against East Los Angeles College (ELAC) on Friday (11/11/16).

The Mounties, 7-8-4 overall and 2-3-3, finished third in conference behind Chaffey and Rio Hondo.  Mt. SAC finished the season strong, going 4-2-2 in its last eight games and received the #18 seed in the CCCAA SoCal Play-Offs.  The Mounties will travel to take on #15 seed, Orange Coast College, in a play-in game on Thursday (11/17), at 2:00 pm.  The winner of this game will take on #2 seed and host, Santiago College on Saturday (11/19), at 2:00 pm.  

Against ELAC, all of the scoring took place in the first half.  Freshman forward Viviana Ortega gave the Mounties the early, 1-0, lead in the 25th minute.  Midfielder Samantha Barreto assisted on the goal, which was the third of the year for Ortega.

The Huskies evened up the score, 1-1, in the 35th minute.

On the season, freshman midfielder Hallie Culotti led the team in scoring with eight goals, followed by freshman forward Kaliah Redwood with seven and India Hines with six.
