(Costa Mesa, CA) For the second Orange Empire Conference match in a row, the Mt. SAC Women's Golf team finished in third at the Costa Mesa Country Club on Wednesday.

After two OEC matches the Mounties are in third place with a 4-4 standing. Irvine Valley and Saddleback are tied for first with 7-1 records.

Four matches remain in the OEC season plus the conference finals.

Leading the way for the Mounties was freshman Mackenzie Kelly with a 76, which was six shots over the course par of 70. Kelly was one over on the back nine.

"My number one (Kelly) played solid and we're very proud of her," Mt. SAC Women's Golf coach Greg Osbourne said. "It was a very solid round. She has improved so much and didn't really have any bad holes.

"Our No. five and six girls have also improved."

Kelly, who shot a hole in one recently, is averaging 81.5 in the first two matches.

Ryanne Broughton shot the second best score of the day for the Mounties with an 82.

"She shot her best score ever and that's fantastic for her first year of playing with a team," Osbourne said.

Match number three will be held next Monday October 2 at the Par 72 Temecula Creek Golf Course.
