Mountie Women's Basketball Rebound After Loss wtih 76-53 Victory over Pasadena City College

(Walnut, CA) After falling to South Coast Conference North rival East Los Angeles College last Friday, the Mounties rebounded and easily downed Pasadena City College, 76-53, on Wednesday behind a game-high 20 points from sophomore guard Caira Benton.

With the victory the Mounties have extended their state-leading win total to 26 against only two losses.

Four other players were also in double figures for Mt. SAC – Aliyah Dickson (4-7 FG, 6-8 FT, 5 RB, 2 steals, 15 pts.), Kali Jones (steal, 3 blks, 11 pts.), Allyah George (5-8 FG, 10 pts.) and Maddeline Dopplick (7 assists, 3 RB, 10 pts).

The Mounties out-rebounded PCC, 41-35, with Jones grabbing a game-high 13 boards.

As a team the Mounties dished out 21 assists and shot 75% (9-12) from the charity stripe.

After a close first half in which the Mounties held a slim four-point lead, 32-28, the offense exploded for 22 points in the second and third quarters for the 23-point victory.

The defense held the Lancers to only 25 second half points.

The Mounties have two regular season games remaining, both at home. They host L.A. Trade Tech on Wednesday and Chaffey College on Friday.
