Mt. SAC Softball Receives No. 2 Seed in CCCAA South Region

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Softball team ended the regular season earning its 12th South Coast Conference Champion. The No. 2 seed Mounties will now turn its sights on the post season and begin the CCCAA playoffs this Friday night.

With a 35-3 regular season record, the Mounties will now aim for their 11th So Cal Regional title.

Mt. SAC will face the highest remaining seed of the play-in games; No. 17 Grossmont at No. 16 Ventura and No. 18 Allan Hancock at No. 15 Fullerton in the other.

First round, best two of three series, will begin Friday, May 5 at 7:00 pm with game 2 on Saturday, May 6th at 2:00 pm and the if game to follow.

The Mounties defeated Fullerton (19-21), 5-3, lost to Allan Hancock (27-13), 11-2 and didn't play Ventura (18-12). The scheduled game against Grossmont (21-17) was cancelled due to rain.

The winner of the first round game will then advance to the Super Regionals beginning May 12-14.

If the Mounties should advance to the Super Regionals they will host the four-team double elimination tournament with the winner advancing to play in the CCCAA State Championships May 19-21 in Bakersfield.
