(Walnut, CA) After starting the season with a 20-game winning streak, the Mt. SAC Softball team has another streak going at seven, after a 5-3 victory over Fullerton College in a nonconference game Tuesday afternoon.

With the win the Mounties improved to the second-most wins in the state with 29, against only three losses.

Sophomore pitcher Tiffany Kennedy-Cummings picked up her 11th win of the season in her six innings and struck out six batters. Sophomore Racqual Espinoza finished up the seventh for her first save of the season.

The hitting star was sophomore catcher Taylor Jaurique with three hits in four at bats, including a double.

After trailing, 2-0, in the top of the second the Mounties answered with three runs to take a 3-2 lead. The first came on a run-scoring single by sophomore third baseman Kristen Williams (1 for 3, run), scoring centerfielder Bree Maikai (2-3, 2 runs), a triple by shortstop Kayla Sok to send Williams home and an RBI single bringing in Sok.

Sophomore right fielder Alyssa Rasso (2-3) gave the Mounties a 5-2 lead on an RBI double in the third inning.

Fullerton added a solo tally in the fifth inning, to close within two, 5-3, but Kennedy-Williams and Espinoza would shut the door on the Hornets the rest of the way.
