(Walnut, CA) With this years' theme of just "Win the Moment," the Mounties stretched their season-opening streak to 10 with 11 hits and a nine-strikeout performance by sophomore pitcher Tiffany Kennedy-Cummings. The Mounties defeated El Camino College, 5-1, in a South Coast Conference crossover game Tuesday afternoon to remain undefeated on the young season.

"Just win the moment," said sophomore first baseman Toni Mendoza, who smacked a solo four-bagger in the third inning. "I think when we win every single moment, that's when we win games."

Kennedy-Cummings allowed only three hits and a run and improved to 4-0. "This year we are taking advantage of scoring when we need to score," Kennedy-Cummings said. "Everyone is producing really well. We're hitting and we have a great defense."

"Our whole pitching is 100% and everyone is supporting each other."

The offense continues to produce with its eighth double-figure hit parade of the season.

Three players had a pair of hits each - Kayla Sok (2-2, 2 RBIs, run), Toni Mendoza (2-3, RBI, run) and Alyssa Rasso (2-3).

The Mounties scored in each of the first four innings, while Kennedy-Cummings was sailing along after a first-inning jam.

With the bases loaded in the top of the first inning she proceeded to strike out the side to end the threat and sailed along retiring 12 batters in a row until a solo home run in the sixth inning.

Sophomore left fielder Aleyah Wilbon singled in Sok in the first inning for the 1-0 lead, followed by a pair of runs in the second.

Sophomore center fielder Bree Maikai scored on a fielders choice by second baseman Mandy Larios and sophomore DP Erin Mendoza came home on a sacrifice fly by Sok for the second run of the inning for the 3-0 lead.

Sok singled in the fourth inning induced the defense into a brief pickle, allowing Felix to score the fifth run of the game.

"They have a goal and that's to 'win the moment," which is our slogan this year," Mt. SAC coach Ruby Rojas said.
