Walnut, CA -- The Mounties Softball Team has started the 2016 season off to a great 5-0 start. The team had another good outing late on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted Citrus College. The Mounties led by one run, 2-1, going into the bottom of the sixth inning before scoring four runs to take control over the visiting Owls, 6-1.

The Mounties would score twice in the bottom of the first inning on a single by Aleyah Wilbon scoring Kayla Sok, who reached on a walk to start the inning. Racqual Espinoza, who walked also in the inning, would score the second run off the bat of Jazmin Orozco on an error by the Owls shortstop.

The Owls would draw close in the fifth inning by scoring a run with 2 outs, off of Mounties starting pitcher Espinoza.

The Mounties would open up the sixth inning with Natalie Winokur getting on base on an error by the first baseman, Winokur then advanced to second.  Reanna Hernandez would follow with an RBI double to score Winokur.  Sok would single and advance to second moving Hernandez to third.  Alyssa Rasso was inserted into the game and grounded out to the shortstop.  Espinoza doubled in both Hernandez and Sok extending the lead to 5-1 and giving herself a four run cushion.  Aimee Rodriguez would single in Espinoza to make the score 6-1.   

The Mounties will host San Bernardino on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm and Saddleback on Friday afternoon at 5:00 pm.
