Men's Track and Field Captures 2016 South Coast Conference Championship

(Long Beach, CA)  The Mt. SAC Men's Track & Field Team continued their winning tradition by capturing the 2016 South Coast Conference (SCC) Championships.  This marks the 3rd consecutive SCC Championship, 26th in SCC History and an amazing 18th championship in the past 20 years.  The Mounties scored 418 points, one the highest point totals in SCC History and 225 points ahead of runner-up Cerritos College.  

On the women's side, the Mounties scored 241.5 points, 98.5 points behind SCC Team Champion, Cerritos College.  Crystal Jardines and Brittany Mitchell led the Mountie Women by capturing two events a piece.  Jardines captured the 5,000 and 10,000 meters, while Mitchell captured both hurdle races (100m hurdles/400m hurdles).  

Cameron Akins and Kevin Herrera were multiple event winners for the men.  Akins captured the 110 meter high hurdles, the 100 meters and the 200 meters, while Herrera captured the two long distance races, winning the 5,000 and 10,000 meters.

Mt. SAC captured 19 individual events, seven for the women and 13 for the men.
