Ron Kamaka Named 2015 Men's Track and Field State Coach of the Year

(Las Vegas, NV)  Mt. SAC Head Coach, Ron Kamaka, was named the 2015 Men's Track and Field State Coach of the Year by the California Community College Cross Country and Track Coaches Association (5CTCA).  Kamaka was presented with this prestigious honor by his peers, at the 2015 5CTCA Convention Banquet on Tuesday, August 4th at the Linq Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.  In his acceptance speech, Kamaka was quick to direct this great honor to his staff, administration and student-athletes, but most importantly to his lovely wife Lynda, for her continuous support.

This past season, Kamaka led the Mountie Men's Track and Field Team to their 10th California Community College Athletic Association State Championship.  The Mounties captured the 2015 title by a mere point over College of the Sequoias.

The convention served as another milestone in Kamaka's Coaching Career, as he embarked on a four-year term as 5CTCA President, where he will serve a two-year term as Track & Field President and a two-year term as Cross Country President.  In the early 90's, former Head Coach and Dean/Athletic Director, John Norton, was the last Mt. SAC Coach to serve as 5CTCA President.
