2014 CCCAA SoCal Multi Event Championships-Day 1

(Walnut, CA) Warm sunny Southern California weather made for some outstanding marks at the 2014 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Multi Event Championships, which are being held at Historic Hilmer Lodge Stadium (Mt. San Antonio College-Walnut, CA) on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 8th and 9th.  After the first day of competition (100M, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, 400M), Sophomore Miles Poullard of Mt. SAC leads the competition with a score of 3826 points.  Going into the second day, he holds a 59 point lead over Winston Lawson of Orange Coast College (3767 points) who holds the second place spot.  Poullard posted the best marks of the day in the Long Jump (23'03"1/2, 838 points) and in the 400 meters (49.17, 853 points).

In the first day of the Heptathlon, defending CCCAA State Champion, Alexus Dalton of Cerritos leads the competition with a score of 3176 points.  Freshman Jasmine Hall of College of the Canyons is a very close second, 9 points behind, with a score of 3167 points.  The two were nearly neck and neck in all four events (100M Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, 200M) with Dalton winning the 100M Hurdles (14.38, 925 points) and the High Jump (5'06"1/2, 842 points).  With the exception of the 200M, which Hall captured with a time of 24.81 (904 points) and Dalton taking fourth (25.70, 824 points), the two finished within one place of each other in the first three events.

The second day of Competiion begins tomorrow at 9:45 am for the Decathlon and 11:00 am for the Heptathlon.
