Mt. SAC Men’s Soccer Wins Fourth Straight, Defeat L.A. Harbor, 4-0, for Eighth Shutout of Season

(WILMINGTON) For the eighth time this season the Mt. SAC Men's Soccer team blanked its opponents and cruised to a 4-0 win over host L.A. Harbor College Tuesday afternoon in a South Coast Conference crossover game.

The Mounties moved up a spot in the CCCSCA rankings last week to second in the state.

The last three games of the regular season, beginning Friday at Mt. SAC against Chaffey College, are all in the SCC North.

After a 0-0 tie in the first half of play, the Mounties opened the scoring with two goals in nine minutes.

Sophomore forward Manuel Medina started the scoring at the 50-minute mark from an assist by Jonathon Hernandez for the 1-0 lead.

Just nine minutes later (59 Minutes) freshman midfielder Jonathon Hernandez gave the Mounties a 2-0 lead (Miguel Martinez assist). The tally was Hernandez' first of his college career.

Freshman forward Andre Gamboa, on an assist from the states' No. 3 scorer Michael Flores, scored at the 78-minute mark for the 3-0 lead, followed four minutes later (82nd minute) with a penalty kick by sophomore midfielder Axel Mendez for the 4-0 final.

Mt. SAC freshman goal keeper Edwyn Gutierrez picked up his state-leading 13th win.
