Mounties Fall One Game Short Of Making It To The Championship Game

(Cupertino, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Soccer Program (15-6-4) made their 10th consecutive appearance at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Soccer Championships.  Despite a valiant effort, the Mounties fell one game short of reaching the CCCAA California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship Game with a, 1-2, semi-final loss to number one Northern California Seed, Evergreen Valley Community College (17-3-3).

Evergreen Valley jumped to an early, 1-0, lead in the fourth minute of play.  A minute later, the Mounties suffered a tremendous loss when goal keeper Andy Gutierrez, saved a potential goal, but broke his right leg when he landed.  The score remained 1-0 until the 56th minute of play in the second half, when the Hawks increased their lead to 2-0.  Mt. SAC scored in the 65th minute of play on a Rolando Munoz goal, assisted by Juan Sanchez.  The Mounties came close to scoring on a few more opportunities however, time ran out.

Congratulations to Head Coach Juan Sanchez, his staff and the Men's Soccer Program for another fantastic season and continuing a decade of soccer excellence.
