Mt. SAC Men Fall in Overtime to West L.A. 76-70 in Compton Tartar Basketball Classic in Consolation Championship

(Compton, CA) For a good portion of the Compton College Tartar Classic Consolation Championship game the Mt. SAC Men's Basketball Team had West L.A. College on the ropes, but eventually fell in overtime, 76-70.
Mt. SAC held a three-point lead 62-59 with 12 seconds left, but a three-pointer by West L.A. (11-4) tied the game and the Wildcats outscored the Mounties 14-8 in overtime for the win.
Mt. SAC (6-10) was led by guard Evan Council (2-5 3PM, 11 RB) with 18 points and forward Minfeke Sanoe (7-8 FTM) brought down a team-high 13 rebounds and scored 15 points.
Guards Corey Grant (4-6 FGM, 2-3 FTM) and Darrell Williams (3-7 3PM) had 11 points each for the Mounties.
As a team the Mounties outrebounded West L.A. 44-33 in the game.
The Mounties built up a 31-24 lead in the first half as D. Williams and Grant led the way with nine and seven points respectively.
Council, who helped to contribute to a 10-point Mountie lead in the second half, scored 13 of his 18 points after the break.
Mt. SAC's next game is after the holidays on Wednesday January 10 at home against El Camino College in a South Coast Conference crossover game.
