Garrett Nevels and Corey Allen Sign National Letters of Intent.

(Walnut, CA) Mt. SAC Basketball Stars Corey Allen and Garrett Nevels will continue their academic and athletic careers at the NCAA Division 1 level and have signed National Letters of Intent.  Allen has signed with the University of South Florida Bulls, while Nevels will join former Mountie Women's Hoopsters Morgan Mason, Shawlina Segovia and Ashley Burchfield on the Manoa Campus of the University of Hawaii.    

Allen and Nevels helped lead the Mounties to their first ever state basketball championship this past March.  The two were named to the All-State Tournament Team with Nevels garnering tournament MVP Honors. 

Allen, the 2013 Southern California Community College and South Coast Conference Player of the Year, will join a stacked Bulls recruiting class that was ranked 12th nationally by HoopScoop.com and 21st by ESPN Recruiting Nation.  Allen led the Mounties averaging 21.1 points points per game.  He also averaged 4.2 assists and shot 61.8 percent from the field this past season. 

Nevels averaged 19.8 points per game for the Mounties this season.  He was selected the California Community College Athletic Association Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of March.  In five playoff games, Nevels scored an amazing 129 points, which accounted for 31 percent of the Mounties total points.  He shot 60.5 percent from the floor (46 for 76) and an incredible 54.5 percent from the 3-point line (12 for 22).  Nevels, the team leader in the classroom, maintains a 3.58 GPA.
